Hello All, well i am new to RX8 ownership and i had before buying my car fully understood the problems that the car may have.

Its starts fine, drives well (slight oil leak) but does have the hot start issue.

So, i need to get the engine re-worked. Who is going to be best to use? and where are the based? Im in the midlands, and do not mind traveling as long as its to somebody who knows exctly what they are doing.

There seems to be quite a few people advertising they do, but i am unsure they all have the knowledge.

Help Please.

Thanks

Hey. Apologize for so many questions here, etc.. but more than anything to get all opinions, and in Spain this complicated issue turbo kit, etc.. as there are very few people who has mounted. The issue, I can buy very economical GReddy turbo kit T618, with all it takes, hoses, intercooler, etc. Ultimate eManage more black switchboard, but controller HKS turbo ecv6 model, but Forge dump valve, two pressure gauges, one on the AEM wide band probe and a pressure of the turbo. The kit is less than a year of use, and few kilometers. That you think would be worth buying? Envelope power values would be giving? As I have read to get better values should buy some more flow injectors, etc.. But I do not mess it is to see what you think about the topic. I leave a couple of pictures so you can see like this. Greetings.

Hi, just joined and thought i would say hi.

I have been a fan of Rotary engined cars for years and have never had the oppertunity to buy one.

Until last week, when a 2004 RX8 came up in a plant sale, and i bagged it.

Now obviously i had to buy it blind, so i have taken a chance.

But its a very nice motor, and when you consider it came to me for a shade under 2k i cannot complain.

Yes it has a slight oil leak, and the hot start issue, but its only covered 49k miles and its very very tidy.

It drives spot on, and the hot start issue is only a problem if you are in a hurry (lol)

So just need to get the engine refurbed and i will be a happy man.

Does anybody know of a good place in the Midlands.

Many Thanks

Basically I got to the venue hot engine check oil it was about 1/4 up the dip stick so I topped up to just over half way I then did 2 20 minute track sessions over 2 hours then when I came in I parked up popped the hood for some airflow but noticed the catch tank was full so I check my oil and it was bare minimum so what's up with that then seems strange that its being drawn up the filler pipe and into the tank.

Anyways the page will include all updates on the SR20 RX8, Beams Engined KP61 and future projects planned for 2012 / 13. With randoms snaps of cars spotted in my travels around the countryside and bits of work I do for friends from time to time. All feedback is welcome :)

This is a direct copy and paste from the RX8OCUK that i posted up so sorry if some of the referances dont make sense and some of the links will lead to DIY's from over on the RX8OC too.

This is not intended to be a full guide on installing an AEM/Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake, as the instructions are quite good however some of the pictures are not exactly clear in what goes where.

These Pictures where taken Last spring (2011) when I was installing an AEM Kit on to DreRX8's motor during a pretty heavy modding session.
I believe Dre got his AEM from Mad Motors for an amazing price considering everywhere else where punting them for £300 at the time.

This will be more of an image guide than a step by step walk through of everything you need to to to install it.

With the above noted lets get on to some of the information that you stepped in here for.

First of all your going to need to remove your stock Airbox these youtube videos are a great referance.

Next the front bumper has got to go so allow you access to the main area for install. depending on what series Rx8 you have they differ slightly.

Series 1 RX-8 (2003-2008) Front Bumper Removal Guide by Orbist

Series 2 RX-8 (2008-2011) Front Bumper Removal Guide by Hypothermia

Once you got your front bumper off and the stock airbox out then your going to want to remove the rest of the stock intake system... just take is slowly and don't rush things, specially if you got a 231 as there will be some extra items to remove.

When Disconnecting your MAF plug make sure you when reconnecting it that you tie the additional cable and plug (for the VFAD controller) away securely, do not leave it dangling as your not going to need it anymore.

When your installing your CAI leave all the hose clamps and bolts loose as first to allow you to adjust everything once its all fitted and in place then you can tighten them all up.

Well not its picture time, I am going to shut up and let the images do most of the talking.

First remove the front strengthening bar to allow better access for the final pipe part.

Reducing Rubber Hose is next up, fitted to the throttle body.

MAF Sensor Pipes next the angle of this is important

Hose Joiner and mesh screen.

Another Mesh screen goes in.

Now is when the funny looking bump coupler goes in.
