Hi guys.
I'd like to spend a few words about the V-fad.
As far as I know, it's a sort of valve used to decrese the noise at low-mid rpms. Is it correct? Does it need to something else?
Did anyone disconnect it? And how?

from http://blackhaloracing.com/technical/rx-8-intake-tech/ :
On the high-power versions of the RX-8, this “sock” is supplemented by a device Mazda calls the “VFAD” – Variable Fresh Air Duct – which opens under PCM control when the engine speed is above 5250 RPM. The VFAD allows the effective flow area of the intake “sock” to nearly double when required, which eliminates any concern about the somewhat reduced diameter of the “sock” itself. This is mainly a noise abatement technique that Mazda employs to help keep the intake quiet until you really mean it when you step on the gas.
I removed it something like one year ago, no problem and a slightly increase of the noise in low/mid rpm range during acceleration!

Thanks Orph3n for the link, very interesting. Is purely a matter of noise. So it seems that if you remove that, you won't have anymore that sort of "sound changing" that you hear whenever you push the throttle over 5250rpm. I mean, normally under 5000rpm it's like the car is almost sleeping. Then it seems to transform itself and scream like a b...east! So if you remove the v-fad the difference would me covered. Do you agree?
