    Lets Talk Grounding Kits

Well after a little looking around i have decided to bite the bullet and get a grounding kit for my RX8... was quite lucky as i sources a new HKS circle earth kit thats designed for the RX7FC for £58 shipped instead of the normal £130 odd.

So after looking at some of the descussions on the US forums and Mazda Manics install

    http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?...9&postcount=58

It looks like there is somthing in it.

but as it stands i think ill eed to invest in some extra wire and terminals to roll out some extra cable in to other points.

My main question at the moment is what points would beople view as critical to ground out.

The kit comes with 8 cables though 4 of those are meant to be run from the distribution block to the negative terminal (why 4 i cannot fathom) but i plan to run just 1 or 2 for now and use the extras fo add more ground points.

I am running BHR ignition kit that grounded directly to the negative terminal of the barrery so i wouldnt need to ground the coils like some of the yanks have spoken about.

So places I personally feel should be priority ground points are.
    Lower intake Manifold
    Throttle Body
    Alternator Body
    Engine (spark plug side somware

    Any other suggestions

Ill also be running some cables to either wing and maybe the front and rear of the engine bay

On a seperate subject i am toying with a voltage stabilizer after some of the yank have reported better engine response using one.

    so whats peoples views

Well if I do what I am planning to... Order a universal kit for the extra cable and terminals the. I may have another HKS block going spare
Or it may be worth looking at the offering from D1 Spec (ep racing) kit can be had for about £30 from their eBay shop

Also Greg have you got some pictures and install info for your Feed V Power cable?
Chuck it in another thread mate.

Grounding kits are OK. They don't do much, just smooth things up so don't expect any real gain.
I don't have one just because i hate wiring things up

Aston if you want I can machine some plates inin a nice looking rotor shape instead of the usual round distributor thingy!

Am a bit of a whore to the brands as you can probably tell... I already got one with the HKs kit, however i sispect they could be quite popular for those that are building their own kits

the broken terminal cap seems a common thing, mine got broken and i have seen heaps of them broken off. just look at it as cheap weight saving

Thanks for that dude... i was actually planning to mound the sidtribution block where the ECU grounds out anyway so thats one covered.
any other thoughts on locations to ground the car... was wondering if grounding the starter may be a sensible idea also... i know its connected to the bell housing and therefore the engine but would a direct sauce to the battery not be a sensible idea?
